Skin is our largest organ, a physical barrier that protects us from the outside world.
But it is not just a covering: it is a living surface, capable of both receiving and transmitting emotions.
Skin is also a powerful symbol of identity and expression. Its colour, texture, marks, scars, or tattoos reveal deep stories about who we are and sometimes where we come from.
Skin reflects age and the experiences we’ve lived, in a world that so often favours eternal youth, particularly for women.
This is why skin is such a fascinating body part: it embodies that duality between those who do not wish to define themselves through it, perhaps even rejecting it in search of a deeper sense of self beyond the surface; and those who, on the other hand, assert their culture, freedom, and history through their skin.
This is why Dàme Issue 04 is all about the skin and wants to dismantle stereotypes and promote a more inclusive and respectful vision of beauty and individual identity.
